We are a community-based organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place through skateboarding.
With the help of our tireless volunteers, we organize fundraisers and exciting community-building events.
Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits you. We're excited to have you join the team!
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
Our mission is to support the Anacortes community and youth by rebuilding and revamping the current 20-year-old, outdated Anacortes Skate Park. The community deserves a skate park that will decrease injuries, increase the fun, and is good for people of all skill levels! A quality, up to date skate park will also ensure that it will be better respected and maintained, and safe for all users.
Skate parks are a positive outlet to instill strong values like work versus reward, determination, the importance of community, having fun, and can give many a sense of being and a healthy oulet to blow off steam which we all need. Skate parks in any community can be a gathering place and even a second home for families and people of all ages who love skateboarding and other action sports. Quality skate parks in communities serve as a place for skateboarding classes, events, community fundraisers, and a place to find a strong sense of community and friendship.
The Anacortes Skate Park Improvement Project (the Project) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to the rebuilding and future maintenance of the Anacortes Ben Root Skate Park. The Project initiated this nonprofit because the community asked for a safer, higher quality skate park. Thanks to our advocacy, the City of Anacortes added the rebuild of the current park to the Comprehensive Plan and Grindline created the plan for the park. A collaboration spearheaded by the Anacortes Skate Park Improvement Project, with the City of Anacortes and Anacortes Parks Foundation, has raised $1.6 million for the rebuild of the Anacortes Ben Root Skate park by Grindline.
The ground breaking on the new park was July 5, 2023, and the new park, along with the pump track, is planned to be completed by November 2023.
Follow us on Facebook at Anacortes Skate Park Improvement Project to stay updated. Updates on events will also be posted to the Trinity Skate Facebook and Instagram. If you want to donate, you can donate directly to the skatepark fund that is monitored by our treasurer at PayPal or through the Parks Foundation. If donating through the Anacortes Parks Foundation, 10% of the funds will be kept by the Foundation, and be sure to put "Skate park" in the memo or the funds will not go towards the skate park.
Continued fundraising is critical for the maintenance of the new park, assuring it will stay in excellent condition for many years to come.
The Project is organized for the purpose of lessening the burden on the Anacortes City government through the support of the Parks and Recreation Department, reducing delinquency and building community through building, maintaining, and improving Anacortes Skate Park(s) and supporting events, workshops, and classes at the Park(s).
