The Anacortes skate park improvement project Mission

Community Building through Skateboarding

Our mission is to support the Anacortes community and youth by rebuilding and maintaining the Anacortes Skate Park. A quality, well maintained skate park ensures the park will be better respected and safe for all users.

Skate parks are a positive outlet to instill strong values like work versus reward, determination, the importance of community, having fun, and can give many a sense  of being and a healthy oulet to blow off steam which we all need. Skate parks in any community can be a gathering place and even a second home for families and people of all ages who love skateboarding and other action sports. Quality skate parks in communities serve as a place for skateboarding classes, events, community fundraisers, and a place to find a strong sense of community and friendship.

The Anacortes Skate Park Improvement Project (the Project) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to the build and maintenance of the Anacortes Ben Root Skate Park. The Project initiated this nonprofit because the community asked for a safe, high quality skate park.

Thanks to our advocacy, the City of Anacortes added the 2023 rebuild of the park to the Comprehensive Plan and Grindline created the plan for the park. We spearheaded the build, and raised the $1.6 million the City of Anacortes needed to rebuild of the Anacortes Ben Root Skate park .

The ground breaking on the new park was July 5, 2023, and the new park, along with the pump track, is planned to be completed by November 2023.

Follow us on Facebook at Anacortes Skate Park Improvement Project to stay up to date. Skate Park events will also be posted to the Trinity Skate Facebook and Instagram. If you want to donate, you can donate directly to the skatepark fund that is monitored by our treasurer at PayPal or through the Parks Foundation. If donating through the Anacortes Parks Foundation, 10% of the funds will be kept by the Foundation, and be sure to put "Skate park" in the memo or the funds will not go towards the skate park.

Continued fundraising is critical for the maintenance of the new park, assuring it will stay in excellent condition for many years to come.
